Glucosamine Sulfate and Chondroitin Sulfate
These two compounds have gained widespread use for the treatment of arthritic conditions. These two homeopathic or natural remedies, provide excellent symptomatic relief, comparable to any non-steroidal (NSAID) drug. Additionally, solid scientific research and prospective blinded human studies have shown that Glucosamine is effective in:
- Reducing joint pain
- Increasing lubrication of the joint
- Stimulating cartilage matrix repair
- Inhibiting enzymes that breakdown cartilage
- Preserving joint spacing
- Anti-inflammatory actions
Unlike glucosamine (from shellfish chitin), chondroitin is from the trachea of cows. There is no known allergic reaction to glucosamine. No fish or shellfish products are present in the preparations. There is no significant difference between the HCl and sulfate versions of glucosamine. There is no known possible over-dosage of glucosamine.
Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM)
Methylsulfonylmethane is a naturally occuring sulfur compound found in every cell of the body. It has a vitamin-like normalizing influence on body functions. A low concentration of MSM in the body has been associated with both physical and psychological stress, organ and tissue malfunction and fatigue. Sulfur is found in small amounts in fruits, vegetables and grains, but, because of its volitile nature, it is easily lost. Supplementing the diet with additional sulfur ensures the body's ability to synthesize collagen for connective tissue health, maintain membrane flexibility and promote cell regeneration. The concentration of MSM in the body begins to decrease over time, so deficiencies may occur as part of the aging process. Sulfur deficiencies are associated with brittle nails, poor gastrointestinal and immune systems, and joint and connective tissue functions.
Cetyl Myristoleate (CMO)
Cetyl Myristoleate is an ester of a fatty acid. CMO has a buttery consistency at room temperature, and becomes waxy when cooled. There is mounting evidence that CMO by itself can be effective in the treatment of many forms of arthritis. CMO is believed to:
- Lubricate arthritic joints as well as the entire body structure
- Make muscles glide more smoothly over bones and tissues
- Soften muscular tissues, making them more pliable
- Mediate inflammatory processes such as swelling
- Function as an immune system modulator in the treatment of auto-immune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosis, and multiple sclerosis.
Calcium Ascorbate
Calcium Ascorbate is Vitamin C fully reacted to calcium, providing a buffered, non-acidic form of ascorbic acid. Vitamin C is essential for the maintenance of connective tissue, collagen and bone health. Vitamin C scavenges free radicals and recycles the body’s Vitamin E. Vitamin C also reduces lipid peroxidation after eating a fatty meal.
Ascorbic Acid
Vitamin C, also known as Ascorbic Acid, cannot be manufactured by the body and needs to be ingested. Vitamin C is required in the synthesis of collagen in connective tissue, neurotransmitters, steroid hormones, carnitine, conversion of cholesterol to bile acids and enhances iron bioavailability. Ascorbic acid is a strong antioxidant and helps to protect the body against pollutants. Because Vitamin C is a biological reducing agent, it is also linked to prevention of degenerative diseases such as cataracts, certain cancers and cardiovascular diseases. Ascorbic acid also promotes healthy cell development, proper calcium absorption, normal tissue growth and repair such as the healing of wounds and burns. It assists in the prevention of blood clotting and bruising, and strengthening of capillarie walls. Vitamin C is thought to enhance the immune system and help reduce cholesterol levels, high blood pressure and prevent arteriosclerosis.
Lipase
Lipase enzymes are used by the body to aid in the digestion of fats by breaking them down into free fatty acids and monoglycerides. Lipase can be used to treat digestive problems and conditions that may cause a person to have trouble absorbing nutrients. The author believes that pancreatic enzyme supplements can treat autoimmune disorders, inflammations and even some food allergies.
With over 10,000 people a year dying from NSAIDs, there is a desperate need for a safer and more effective treatment for arthritis. The author believes that Not Nice To Arthritis® is a superb combination of several highly regarded alternative remedies assembled together. Many people have reported alleviation of their symptoms of arthritis using these ingredients.
Not Nice To Arthritis® can also be used in the arthritic treatment of pets.
